The communities that make up Midcoast Council of Governments vary in size, staff, and experience. With legislation, funding, and expectations placed on municipalities, MCOG will be offering different ways we can assist communities in the region with easing their workload. As members of MCOG, we will work to provide workshops, resources, and one-on-one sessions with municipal leaders looking for ways to improve the amenities in their communities. We can also provide resources and contracts for municipalities in need of administrative assistance on high priority projects.
Being a member of MCOG will include email notifications of our work in the region, which may spark ideas in your area for projects and grants that you would like to pursue in the future, notifications of our cooperative purchasing program with the Greater Portland Council of Governments (GPCOG) that can save municipalities hundreds to thousands of dollars on commonly used public works and administrative items, and of our workshops and webinars that aim to provide valuable information to address common concerns in the region.
A member community is also entitled to calling MCOG staff to assist a Planning Board for a complex site plan beyond the Board's experience. Communities can also call our staff for questions on grant implementation, strategy implementation, or to facilitate with town-designated groups to organize and layout roadmaps for how to achieve their goals.
Please reach out with any questions on how we might help you and your community.
