Alexis has two decades of experience bridging research, policy, and practice related to affordable housing and family economic well-being in Maine and nationally. She has worked both locally and regionally in economic and community development, including as part of a team responsible for developing the reuse plan for the Brunswick Naval Air Station. While at the John T. Gorman Foundation, she oversaw the design and implementation of the Foundation’s economic well-being funding strategy, including piloting integrated housing and wealth-building programming for youth transition from Foster Care in Portland and Lewiston’s Neighborhood CHOICE implementation efforts. Over her career, Alexis has focused on identifying the leverage points for systemic change, including co-designing and implementing policies that encourage more equitable prosperity -- especially in rural communities and smaller cities. Alexis holds a PhD in Social Policy and Sociology from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management and has worked with stakeholders overseeing all aspects of mixed methods research —from project design to implementation and analysis.
