CURRENT PROJECTS
LEARN ABOUT OUR CURRENT INITIATIVES & PROJECTS IN THE MCOG REGION

Sustainability and Resilience Projects: MCOG is currently assisting St. George, South Thomaston and Owls Head to enroll in Maine's Community Resilience Partnership. Once enrolled, these towns can apply for up to $50,000 in grant funding for a wide variety of their priority, climate-related projects. Whether the aim is lowering municipal energy costs, installing EV chargers or upgrading roads that flood, MCOG is providing technical assistance to help these communities become more resilient today and in the future.
For more information on how MCOG can help your town enroll in the Community Resilience Partnership, please contact Meg Rasmussen, Community Sustainability Planner, at mrasmussen@midcoastcog.com.
Thomaston: MCOG staff will be assisting the town in building consensus around the redevelopment of the Thomaston Green. The first community-wide session will be help September 15th, followed by a subsequent planning session.
Vinalhaven: Staff visited Vinalhaven in August to discuss topics ranging from their zoning ordinance, comprehensive plan and downtown improvement program. Through MCOG's technical assistance program, staff will assist Vinalhaven with a minor update in their zoning ordinance, including shoreland zoning and some changes in use. Further contract work may follow.
Bowdoinham: Staff is working with the Town in two areas: an update to their TIF program (by contract) and taking a fresh look at housing issues facing the community (through MCOG's technical assistance program).
MCOG Communities: Staff is working on expanding the GIS/mapping program and developing base maps for the MCOG region.
