MCOG is hiring for two positions: Executive Director and Senior Planner
Executive Director:

Midcoast Council of Governments (MCOG) is a non-profit, municipally driven regional planning and economic development organization dedicated to strengthening the capabilities of member municipalities and counties. Member communities share a common purpose: to strengthen local government by combining resources to accomplish together what no individual municipality can do alone.

 

As Executive Director, you will lead all operations of MCOG. overseeing a multidisciplinary team, manage finances and grants, and champion the region’s economic and community development. This is a full-time, salaried position based in Damariscotta, with hybrid flexibility, occasional in-state and out-of-state travel.

Preferred candidates will have:

  • A proven ability to unite people with diverse perspectives around common goals

  • Demonstrated success managing people and organizations

  • Strong financial management skills

  • A successful track record securing and managing federal and state grants

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated success building programs, expanding organizational capacity, and managing complex projects end-to-end

  • Familiarity with municipal government and the needs of local public agencies

Starting salary range: $105,000 – 125,000, depending on experience. MCOG offers competitive benefits, including 100% coverage of health insurance, as well as flexibility to meet your specific needs.

Senior Planner:

An ever-evolving regional planning organization seeks an individual to perform technical & professional work in municipal land use, subdivisions, site plan review, and community resilience planning assistance. Minimum qualifications include:
 

 

· B.A. or B.S. in regional or community planning, environmental science, rural and urban design, landscape architecture, land use planning, geography, or related planning field. Demonstrated knowledge of the planning board review process desired. Masters preferred. Pending graduation considered.

· Effective written communication, public presentation, and people skills, experience in social media and web design a plus;

· Experience or knowledge of the Planning Board review processes desired;

· Familiarity with GIS mapping and data systems

· Strong organization and prioritization skills, ability to work independently;

· Strong research and analytical skills;

· Knowledge of Maine and federal funding opportunities; and,

· Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
 

 

Salary Range:
Planner $50,000-65,000;

Senior Planner $65,000-80,000
