Regional Food Hub

Midcoast Council of Government in partnership with North Atlantic Naturals (NAN) and Maine Center for Entrepreneurs (MCE) is now offering a food business development program that results in a subsidy for cold storage. Businesses enrolled in this program will have access to logistics services, regional distribution partnerships, shared office and meeting space and technical assistance to ensure distribution readiness. This program is made possible by a grant from USDA.

NAN hosts a 3,000 square foot cold storage space at their headquarters in Cumberland. This collaboration offers commercial access and an initial subsidy of up to 75% that will decrease slowly over time. Food businesses such as meat, dairy, seafood, and frozen produce businesses may have access to this storage space.
To ensure distribution readiness MCE will offer a multi-week technical assistance program covering food safe packaging, traceability, business plan development, pricing, and buyer engagement. The program is individualized to the needs of each supplier.
If you are interested in joining as a business, please reach out to Alyson Peabody at alyson@northatlanticnaturals.com.
