Claire Oxford

Community Planner

At MCOG, Claire's project focuses include technical assistance, comprehensive planning, climate, infrastructure & community resilience, and municipal communications and disaster response preparedness. Prior to joining the team, she worked with the Town of North Haven as an Island Institute fellow on several community planning processes to identify and mitigate sea level rise and storm surge impacts while addressing other economic and community development needs. In North Haven, her projects ranged from assessing vulnerabilities and risks along the thoroughfare waterfront area — a working waterfront, transportation, economic, and residential hub for the island — to saltwater intrusion mitigation at the municipal reservoir and an LED streetlight retrofit. She received a M.A. in Latin American, Caribbean, and Iberian Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2023, with a focus on climate-related displacement, migration, and community adaptation. Now based in Rockland, she enjoys exploring the many Midcoast trails, seeing live music, and scoping out local bulletin board flyers for upcoming events and happenings.
