About the Event
Small, rural towns in Waldo County face significant barriers to communications – lack of internet access, digital literacy, cost of technology, and capacity all major issues. This event will focus on sharing tools and strategies used by rural towns in Maine and will include examples from towns in Waldo County. Maine Connectivity Authority staff will be on hand for a celebration of recent broadband infrastructure grant awards in Waldo County.
This will be an in-person event. However, if you face challenges to attending in person, please email Dan DeBord, MCOG planner for a Zoom link at ddebord@midcoastcog.com
Opening Speaker:
- Dr. Kathleen Bell, University of Maine
Dr. Kathleen Bell from the University of Maine will open our event with a presentation on municipal digital communications tools and strategies that are being used to improve community engagement and information sharing throughout the state.
Open forum (moderated by Midcoast Council of Governments):
Local municipal officials and employees to share challenges they’ve faced with digital communications, and any successful strategies.
In addition to local municipal officials, staff will be present from organizations such as Maine Municipal Association, Maine Connectivity Authority, and Waldo CAP to answer relevant regional or statewide questions.
